WESTERN AFRICA - Benin

LOVE OVERCOMES RESISTANCE

According to Pastor Ernest our representative in Benin, he travelled with 30 members of his Church to two villages about 40 kilometers from Cotonou the capital. Benin is the headquarters of the world’s animistic worship.

When they arrived, with clothing, foodstuffs and other consumables donated by his Church, they met the elders of these villages which have had no experience of any activity of the Church and said ‘we are here as a Church; not to convert you or preach but to demonstrate our Love to you as our God is Love’.

The elders of these communities were overwhelmed since various evangelistic teams have made previous attempts to establish Churches through preaching but have all failed. However, this group that came to them was very different, not to preach but to show love!

In both cases, the youths of the two communities were gathered together and these items were distributed with the touch of Love. These two villages are well known for their “juju” or black magic.

At the end of the trip, the chiefs of these communities called Pastor Ernest and his team, gave them plots of land for free and requested that they should build branches of their Church in these communities. Already, the Churches have started.
