Pastor Boniface Muiruri and his wife Grace Mugure are blessed with a baby girl, Felister Njeri. They hail from a village in Waithaka town which is adjacent to Nairobi, Kenya’s capital city. He is ministering with the Souls Spirit in the Holy Ghost Church. One day a fried of his invited him to attend a VISION conference that was held near his village by a member of the Samaritan Strategy team.
He attended the 5-day conference after which he confessed that he has never been the same again. He learnt much from the ‘Discipline of Love’. In this lesson, he learnt the way of forgiveness and this helped him resolve much of what he had been ‘holding’ up within himself. Pastor Muiruri’s congregation has grown from 20 to 50 members, many being women. He has also had the church go through the lessons contained in the discipleship materials, BASICS 1.
Pastor Muiruri is experiencing a big challenge in that the church meets in rented premises. This makes it hard for them to start long term projects; the church is now in the process of planning a fundraising event to raise funds to enable them lease a plot of their own where they will be in a position to implement some intended projects.
The pastor and the congregation have been conducting a one-day project where they raise funds and run a mercy ministry of helping the poor and needy people around them. Most of the community members are affected by the menace of HIV-AIDS which has left the village affected and many children milling around hopelessly without any help or guardians. This has been one issue that pastor Muiruri has decided to focus on. The limited financial ability of the members of the Church has made it hard for the church to assist consistently since the majority of the members of this church do need help themselves.
In his counseling to the church and the community Pastor Muiruri guides them on how they can use the resources they have to transform their own lives. His advice to them is to open small-scale businesses where they buy some vegetables in the near buy farms that they can sell in the market nearby. In this he shows them that they can make ends meet by being good stewards of what they have. These are some of the principles taught by the Kingdom Math lessons.
Pastor Muiruri is an encouragement to the church and the community that he works within. In his heart he is moved by the conditions and situations that he sees the people living in. He is now committed to work for a fruitful transformation of his community as he shares the Biblical truth with his neighbours and church members.
