After attending a VISION Conference held between in October 2005, Joseph Simiyu and his wife were moved to do something for the many children who were not going to school. Simiyu is a pastor with a local church, and the ministry is run under the Hosannah Most High Foundation. Many families could not afford to feed their children and take them to school at the same time. Provision of affordable education was seen as a primary area of need. Cross Link Children’s Centre was born with five children; today that number is now fifty, where they are also provided with a meal and clothing.
This is a picture of Joseph Simiyu with the children (top photo) and him with a single parent family (bottom photo). Cross Link sponsors one of her children. After the election-related violence, their house was burnt and the family moved for a few months to a temporary refugee camp set up in a nearby sports stadium. The lady had one of her legs broken as she ran for her life. The lady is holding an orphan whose parents died and the Centre is helping take care of him.
Cross Links mobilises a lot of support from the community and are able to take care of the needy in their community. After the post-election violence, they assisted the affected with food, shelter, counseling, and clothing.
Cross Links is committed to the truths from God’s word that love is key to serving others. Simiyu and his congregation have seen the effects of serving others- they demonstrate the love and Kingdom of God to those around them.
