New Dawn Education centre is not –for –profit project seeking to address the increasing school dropout in Githogoro and Huruma slums of Westlands constituency Nairobi .
Most parents/ guardians living in these areas/slums are low income earners, who work in adjacent Runda and Westlands as night guards and maids /house helps. These people earn very little with which they can't support their children in government or private secondary school. On the other hand, those who are orphans live with their extended family members who always feel burdened to support them in the provision of both education and general upkeep.
Research done by New Dawn revealed that many young people wish to go back to school and others desire vocational education. Lack of opportunities to realise their dreams leads to the hopelessness experienced resulting to high risk exposure to HIV/AIDS, apart from the wide spread Alcoholism and Drug abuse.
Its in response to this problem that New Dawn has come up with - programme of providing an opportunity for secondary school education and remedial classes for those who desire to sit for K.C.P.E.
The centre seeks to:

To provide secondary school educational support to fourty (40) form one (1) students by the end of the year 2006. |

To provide remedial support to K.C.P.E candidates by the end of the 2006. |
|
3. |
To provide moral guidance and disseminate information on HIV/AIDS to the students and Huruma & Githogoro communities at large. |

4. |
To equip the students with various lifeskills as part of the school curriculum spread over the four years. |
|
5. |
To empower Huruma/ Githogoro youth with life skills for the purposes of income generating. |
|
