Since I came back from the VISION conference in Ghana, my work in More than a Mile Deep, Nigeria has never been the same.
1. I started two village work projects among the COCIN church leadership. One of the groups is in Bisichi, and the other in Dahol Dangom (Dorowa) all in Jos South.
Initially my 1st generation facilitators where 15 in number. These are doing well. In a sense I have two groups all at C level. The village group could be termed 2nd generation facilitators. There are 5 leaders that came out of the village work. Basically the training focused more on seed projects. Out of the twenty people, 10 are actively involved in one seed project or the other.
2. Mr.Mathew for example, decided that his contribution to his community in Gyel is to carry school children to school every morning freely without charging the parents any money. The parents are very happy and thankful.
3. Three people, Mr. Pam, Mr. Barnabas, and myself decided that we were going to raise N5,000;00 to provide needy and deserving women the money as a revolving loan. One of such women is enjoying the loan right now. She is trying to keep some chickens and to repay the money in 6 months. Another woman will have the privilege of taking some for other businesses. Mr.Ruben on the other hand decided to work with some friends who are chess players but are not Christians but wish to know more about Jesus.
4. Mr Bowas is a player/ coach in a team in Bukuru. He is working with a player whose father is Muslim but the mother is Christian. The chief coach and himself contribute some money to assist the player who always comes all the way from Fubur for training.
5. Mr. Rwang organised his discipleship group to raise money monthly to support a missionary in Doma village in Nassarawa state.
6. Mr. Micha owned a big house close to ECWA Rural Development farm. He decided to invite his church members- 2 families at a time to stay for weekends at his family’s expense. This was a way of giving the church members time to rest but also to meet other church members they might not have met before. There are many such projects going on in my group now.
I am seeing the right people being happy about our work and lives are being transformed daily. These disciples themselves are trying to start their own groups.
I now know that seed projects are my obsessions in this work. I need more prayers to meet more church leaders for training. |
