School of Africa Reformation (SOAR) |

by Wendy Turner from Grahamstown, September 01, 2004
I am part of a church called His People Ministries here and we have a real heart to reach students at university campuses, and part of what we run here is something we call SOAR - School Of African Reformation.
Basically, our vision is to equip students with basic training in worldviews so that they will be able to make a difference in their sphere of influence when they leave university.
At the beginning of this university term we decided to take the students through your book. Each week we go through a chapter and Darrow, we have had more people attending than ever before (about 40 students at the moment), and the feedback from them is incredibly positive - they are loving it, and many of them are coming to see poverty and development with new eyes for the very first time!
Aside from SOAR, following the conference, we have launched Seed Projects here, and every one of our cell groups is involved in a Seed Project of their choice.
I went through the material with the cell leaders who in turn are mobilising their cells to serve and bless the city of Grahamstown. One of our cell groups at a high school in the township was the first to run a Seed Project, and they picked up litter around their school! |
