THE WIDOW'S PARTY Here is the story of one project. After last year's conference, a KPC cell group composed of widows decided to hold a Christmas party for non-churched widows and their kids. They spent four months planning.
Part of the plan was to send out 180 letters of invitation which the cell estimated would bring about 280 people - widows plus their children, plus others who would come by word-of-mouth. Well, 380 came! Many of those who came asked who was behind the party and why.
The organizers answered, "We are just a group of Christians for whom Christmas is a time of rejoicing. We thought we would organize a party and invite people who might not otherwise be able to celebrate. That day, nine guests asked to be included in a group that would do this kind of thing. Nine souls entered the Kingdom.
A PASTOR'S TESTIMONY I got a copy of the first issue of "Vision," a newsletter which has been published by last year's conference follow-through group. The following is a testimony reported in the newsletter. It is from Pastor Timothy Kibirige.
"At the end of the 2000 Vision Conference most of us were compelled to form movements to work through our tribal lines….I was elected to chair the Baganda Caucus, and we promptly arranged a Buganda Regional Conference….Attendants of this mini-conference were alarmed by the issues we addressed….We agreed, Buganda needs God's transformation.
I soon had a chance to visit Kayabe town…to meet the area pastors to speak on leadership. I could not keep away from sharing much of the material we covered in the Vision Conference. The most striking thing to them was an exposition on Luke 2:52 on increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man. The practical teaching on development of seed projects found ready listeners.
One of the Pentecostal churches immediately organized a church party – this is Catholic ground - where Catholic priests were invited. To-date this church is having great relations with the Catholic community in this area.
The youth of Entebbe Pentecostal Church then organized a youth conference at Kayabe Redeemed Church. I shared the need to have a "Paradigm Shift" and Luke 2:52 and the response was incredible.
The young people promptly spread out over the entire area serving; fetching water, cleaning up the school environment, and doing things one cannot describe. The youth at Kayabwe to date are different - seeking to live like Christ in the most normal circumstances of village life…" |
